Mentorship Volunteer Applications and Updated Emails

Hi everyone! There's been a little mix-up with the SSHT email, and I apologize for that. If you tried to email ssht@uwaterloo.ca, it's likely that you received a failure of delivery notification or we simply did not receive it on our end. The SSHT email is now ssht@sciborg.uwaterloo.ca

Also, the mentorship applications are now up. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please fill out this application form and email it to ssht@sciborg.uwaterloo.ca by Friday September 16th, 2011. After sending in your application, please sign up for an interview slot on the SSHT door. Interviews start the week of September 19th. If you have any questions about the application, feel free to email us.

If you're selected to become a mentor, a mandatory training sessions will be required. The training will be held on Saturday September 24th, 2011, and will be an all-day session. Please wear comfortable clothing. Snacks and lunch will be provided.

Lastly, new contact emails (for specific executives) have been updated on the site.

If you love to volunteer, get more involved with your program, and help your fellow student body, then this may just be how to do it. Applications will be up shortly. Hey everyone, we have a couple executive positions opening up for next year. We are looking for an Officer of Mentorship, Officer of Advertising, Officer of Records, Officer of Finance, and a Webmaster. Serving as an executive member with SSHT is an excellent opportunity to get involved and improve you leadership skills.

New Mentor Training on Saturday

Mentor appreciation day is tomorrow! Join us for free pizza and refreshments. We will also be holding a gift certificate draw for mentors who have had perfect attendance in the fall term.

Mentor Appreciation Day

Attention SSHT Mentors! Thank you for your volunteering with us this term. Your continued commitment has helped to make this another successful term for SSHT.

In appreciation, we will be hosting a Mentor Appreciation Day on January 11, 2011 at 5:30 pm in the SSHT office. Free pizza and refreshments will be provided. There will also be a gift certificate draw for mentors who have had perfect attendance this term. For those of you who have perfect attendance but are on a work term in January, your name will still be entered into the draw.

Hot Chocolate Day!

UW Science Society

Science Society is an organization that provides a channel of communication between both the undergrad body and faculty of the Faculty of Science of the University of Waterloo; initiates, encourages, and supports academic, social, and athletic activities, and departmental clubs within the Faculty of Science; and promotes, in general, the interests and welfare of the undergrad body of the Faculty of Science.

UW Pre-Med Club

UW Pre-Med Club is a student-run organization that provides assistance and networking opportunities for those interested in medicine and medicine-related careers. The club is open to students of all faculties at the University of Waterloo, and it is an excellent way of meeting people with a similar interest in medicine. A variety of socials, meetings, information, and guest, lectures are hosted throughout the year.

Depression Awareness Campaign

The Depression Awareness Campaign is an initiative supported by Health Services and Counselling Services to educate students about depression from a student's perspective. The objective is to help students recognize the signs of depression in themselves and in their friends, and direct them to resources where they can find guidance and support.
